I finished the first half (about 5 short stories i think) of Jhumpa Lahiri's Unaccustomed Earth. So sentimental, but so so so beautiful. I didnt cry, because I had put up the wall, but i could have

really, if you can find a cheap copy or the library has it I would read t least a couple of the stories. Or, we could do a book swap!! I'd be happy to send it out to someone (as soon as I finish it, of course) in exchange for a book

since I dont have enough books to read on my list. :)

Hey all,
   
I wanted to make a CD of baby songs for my brother and sister in law. I dont want just kids songs or anything.....i think I might have to do one softer cd and another more lively cd, so if they are trying to get him to sleep, he won't be too stimulated by the music.

The center so to speak of the cd is along the lines of Quincy Coleman's Baby Don't You Cry (The Pie Song) and Somewhere over the Rainbow. But any suggestions are welcome! seriously, if you have a favorite kids song or baby song or song that you think fits, let me knowwww. :)



in other news, diet coke makes me want to curl up in a ball and die.

I saw Sex and the City last night.
While it spurred lots of thoughts, most of which I'll probably delve into later in a long rambly entry, I was curious about something

The product placement in that movie is CRAZY. I mean, I know the whole thing is that they are all into fashion and shoes and that, but i was wondering...do the brands pay to have their names dropped so much? or is it just a perk for them...i mean, i bet you the sales of Manolo shoes must have gone up when the show first premiered...right? maybe not.

i guess having the designer names wasn't as weird as the iphone one. the designers and shoe brands and etc are in context.  at one point carrie picks up samanthas phone and there is a shot of the phone, where it is clearly shown that it is an i phone, and carrie says she can't even use it ( as in it is too complicated)
 i mean i suppose that is in context, but it seemed....

oh i don't know, i'm just rambling.

no insect stories, i have a few and they make me upset.::shudders:

if i had the chance to go crazy,....
i think i would dye my hair violet or bright, crazy, former gwen stephanie esqu pink. it is one of those things i have always felt might look really cool, but in reality i  know it would look silly on me. 
i also might get one of those hair weaves so i could have longer hair.  a nose job, teeth whitening, cutting off my sides, eyebrow ring (maybe)....
there are lots and lots of things, so i'll try to stay with the more extreme.....violet color contacts maybe?
funny most of the things  i can think of all involve my hair. probably because it is so visible, and it says overhaul.
then a gain, we could always get into clothes. that would be a huge thing.
this is getting silly, but i think i just wanted to share that i have always really wondered what my hair would look like pink or purple.

the roommate situation is getting more real, that is the fact that my other two roommies are leaving me and there are two new girls moving in. They both seemed nice, I'm sure it'll be okay living together, but i'm so COMFORTABLE with my current people....

do you know, at one time my plan was to be married at 23, and have kids at 25 or 26...

yeah. that didnt really work out. well i mean, theoretically if i met and married the love of my life before september, i guess it all could fall in place. i just think it is funny how our view sort of morphs. that ideal seems almost ridiculous to me now. *not for everyone, mind you. just me and my specific circumstances*

snack time.

After weeks of living off Bruegers and carrot sticks and canned beans, i decided to go food shopping.

you have to understand. grocery stories are totally havens for me. It's like therapy or something. Its just something i do. All the products make me happy. So I'm all excited.

I get there, and even though its crowded, I'm enjoying myself. Even though that lady just totally hit me with her cart. and even though i stepped in something sticky. and even though I realized that Bob Green has been lying to me and selling me yogurt which is WORSE for you than the kind i used to have. stupid bob green.

::breath:: this is my lovely grocery time. I want it and nothing can destroy that. ::whew::
except....why are there 50 kinds of soy milk?? and how is it that one person can spend 15 minutes in front of the Fuji apples, completely blocking me from getting my Fuji apples. And honestly, does SMELLING a tomato really help you determine whether its good? I don't want the icky tomatoes that touched your nose, who knows where that nose has been??

okay, calm. my grocery store, my peaceful, lovely experience of getting food. UM HELLO???? your bratty child just knocked down a row of cereal boxes, and you aren't going to do ANYTHING?

soon, my injuries turn me bitter: Do you really need to buy those cupcakes, Tubby? And yes, Miss Rail Thin and Healthy Eating Enthusiast, please do keep loudly proclaiming how any one who doesn't buy the bajillion dollar eggs must be a vicious, chicken hating person.

I decide to depart as soon as humanly possible.  It goes okay until I have to actually PAY for the groceries that have escalated in price to a basically ridiculous amount. Walk out of the store to outside, where, despite the clear skies and sun present when I went in, it is now pouring.

I have to walk. Because I was smart and wanted to go to the store 15 minutes away instead of two minutes......grumbling, I hoist my three overrfilled-post consumer product produced-reusable bags over my shoulders and start walking....about 2 minutes go by, and

naturally a car would actually make a big enough splash to douse me and my unhappy groceries in water.
its the last straw....

I break out laughing OUT LOUD on the street. walking home, i keep chuckling to myself, and smiling. How easily I got myself into a lousy frame of mind, and how glad i was that I finally snapped ou.t of it, despite the loss of my grocery shopping therapy session, and the hole in my bank account



this is the best mood I have been in all week
